Welcome to the Three Day Installations Intensive With Joseph Massie.
The Installations Intensive explores three days of large scale floral design, led by five time RHS Chelsea Gold Medal Winner, Joseph Massie. Join us, and explore the art, mechanics and business of floral installations, using the very best blooms of the season. Each day of this course will be led by Joseph, with additional support from our school tutors.
Across our three days together, we’ll focus entirely on installations, exploring both the creative and technical sides of large scale floral design. You’ll work both individually and in small groups of two or three, developing confidence with structure, mechanics and scale, whilst creating impactful designs suitable for events, weddings and brand activations.
We’ll explore the business behind installations, including pricing, branding and how to present your work professionally, ensuring that what you create not only looks beautiful, but works commercially too.
We’ll also be joined by photographer Zuzanna Lowe, who will take images of the designs you have created. Following the course, you will be sent a portfolio of images of your work, for you to use freely to build your brand and business, to take your floral practice to the next level.
This course is designed for those who are looking to elevate their work, build a stronger portfolio, and gain confidence in creating large scale designs. It is particularly suited to florists who are already comfortable with the basics and are ready to move into more ambitious work.

In each hands on session, you'll be provided with a selection of vessels, structures, sundries and flowers, and will have the opportunity to create a range of installation pieces across the three days. This is not a course consisting of painting by numbers, Joseph will demonstrate the techniques and mechanics, and you will then interpret these in your own way, with full creative control over your designs.
As with all of our courses, we’ll be working with the season’s best materials, including British grown flowers and foliages, sourced directly from our local growing partners when the season allows. A range of mechanics will be explored across the course, including both foam free and foam based techniques, with a focus on using each method appropriately and responsibly.
The Three Day Installations Intensive is an advanced course, and it is not advised that students who have just started their floristry journey attend. We would recommend that students have a solid understanding of basic floristry techniques, including hand tied bouquets, wiring and fundamental construction methods, before joining this class.
Class size is kept to a maximum of ten students to create a calm and focused environment, with plenty of tutor to student interaction.
All basic tools will be provided.
